Life changes, sometimes on a daily basis.
If we’re not adapting to the changes, we quickly become irrelevant and fade into history. Whether it’s new education and training to stay up to date in your job, or trying new things to keep life in your relationships, it’s important to continue to “be in the now”.
I recall a number of years that seemed so chaotic that anytime someone asked how I was doing, I’d say I was surfing a big wave. Luckily, those days are over, but the need to keep your head above water will always be with us.
And while every moment of every day is a fresh opportunity to start something new or make a change, the new year is as good a time as any to take stock of where you are and where you’d like to be. Personally, I set aside time around my birthday (end of May) and the first of the year to evaluate where I’m going and if there are any significant changes I want to make.
It seems that most years, I’m making some significant changes to the website. This year, it’s a move to WordPress, as the CMS has grown up a lot since I first looked at it, with great security and speed improvements, as well as a host of other benefits over Drupal and even static HTML.
Last year, I moved my personal blog site (AlanTutt.com) to WordPress, and that was a positive experience. (If you haven’t seen it, there are over 300 articles to read on the Law of Attraction, personal development, and business.)
I’ve also been involved in setting up and/or converting a few other websites to WordPress, including my wife’s website (she’s a freelance musician) and a local organization I’m frequently involved with.
Actually, some of these other projects have distracted me away from working on my own websites for much of 2018. For this reason, the primary “New Year Resolution” I’m focusing on is to set aside at least 2 days every week to work on my own business, and limit the number of freebie projects I take on to help out my friends to what can fit within 1 day per week.
I’ll also set aside 1 day per week to be a day off from all work.
The other 3 days per week will be split between projects for others and additional work on my own businesses. (Publishing and photography)
2019 will bring many more changes to the PowerKeys Publishing website than a simple website update. I don’t want to get into too much detail about what I’m planning (in case I change those plans, as I’ve done quite often in past years), but I will say that I have at least one major product package in mind to produce.
I’m sure it will take at least a couple of months to put together, so until that’s done, I’m recommending folks go through my 30 Days to Divine Power e-course and continue through the Symbolic Solutions 2.0 package, which includes many of my other products as well.
And read my blog (AlanTutt.com). All my new ideas will be found there.
