Did you know that the vast majority of folks who set New Year's Resolutions give up on them before the end of January?
What about you? Do you find the pressure of past habits too much to overcome?
If so, I have a suggestion for you that can eliminate all of the effort of sticking with your resolutions.
Here's the core of the idea.
Think about this. How much willpower do you need to follow through with things you ENJOY doing?
I mean, when you ENJOY something, like eating, sleeping in late, watching TV, or having sex, it doesn't take ANY willpower to do it. You just find yourself gravitating in that direction.
What if the activities involved with your resolutions were that enjoyable?
It would be pretty easy to stick with them, would it not?
If you got a thrill from exercise, it would be easy to keep going to the gym. And if putting a small amount of food on your plate and losing yourself in the process of chewing your food thoroughly before swallowing gave you as much satisfaction as stuffing your face mindlessly, losing weight would "just happen".
Remember when I wrote to tell you of a simple process of manifesting that involved the 3 steps of relax, imagine, and trust? Here's how you can use that process to manifest persistent motivation to stick with your goals.
First, get comfortable and relax as much as you can. Again, this is more important than many people realize. You want to put your body to sleep and get your mind into a deep alpha or light theta level. Or at least as near to this as possible. BWE helps if you have access to it.
The reason for this is so you can access the deeper levels of mind with as little resistance from your conscious mind as possible.
Next, you want to elicit a strong feeling of enjoyment. Daydream about something intensely enjoyable. Keep at it until you can FEEL it as if it were happening RIGHT NOW. This daydream is now the SOURCE of good feelings.
Now, quickly shift your mind to the activity that leads to your goal. Whether that's exercising, eating smaller portions, meeting new people, or whatever, imagine yourself doing the activity while still feeling good. This daydream is the TARGET, where you want the good feelings to go.
Go back and forth between the source and target daydreams a few times. As you do this, your deeper mind will start to associate good feelings with your target activity. In NLP, this is referred to as creating a resource anchor.
In this case, the desired activity becomes an anchor which triggers good feelings to arise.
Spend as much time with this as you'd like. I'd recommend at least 5 to 10 minutes, but there's nothing wrong with spending 30 minutes or more retraining your mind to associate pleasure with the activities that will lead you to the success you desire.
Here's wishing you a fabulous new year!
