Press ‘Play’, sit back, and let the soothing sound of pulsating tones put you at ease.

BrainWave Entrainment audio technology gently and naturally guides your brain into the ideal state for whatever you want to accomplish.

BrainWave Entrainment is a very interesting technology, one that’s been around for several decades, yet few people really understand what it is or how it works.

The absolutely best source of information on BWE technology comes from a company called Transparent Corporation, and may be reached through this link.  That’s where I purchased the software to create the entrainment tracks you’ll find below.  (And yes, I bought the $600 commercial license so I could sell the recordings.  The software I recommend to most folks is just $60, and includes over 120 different sessions.)

For those who don’t want the full story, I’ll give you a very brief overview here.

What are Brainwaves?

The first thing to understand is what brainwaves are.  Our brains operate in cycles, with different frequencies representing different states of being.  For example, right now as you’re reading this, you’re most likely in a Beta state, and if scientists were to hook an EEG machine to you, they’d find the predominant frequency in your brain to be between 12 and 28 cycles per second.

When you’re relaxing, or meditating, your brain is said to be in Alpha, or operating in the 8 to 12 cycles per second range.  Further down the scale is Theta, commonly known as the hypnotic state, which includes the range of 4 to 8 cycles per second.  Sleep is the deepest level, where your brain operates at under 4 cycles per second.

There’s also another range of brainwaves, called Gamma.  This range is above Beta, and starts at 28 cycles per second and goes up from there.  And some folks use the term ‘epsilon’ when referring to the range of brainwaves below ½ cycle per second.

In general, the slower your brainwaves, the more your mind is focused on internal activities, and the higher your brainwaves, the more your mind is focused on the outer world.

What is Entrainment?

Entrainment is the word we use when one thing synchronizes to something else.  When a runner paces another runner, he/she is entraining to the other runner.  Then when they change pace and the other runner matches the new pace, the other runner has entrained to the first runner.

A common example of entrainment is when a tuning fork is struck, and another tuning fork of the same type starts to vibrate across the room.  Another example is when 2 pendulum clocks are hung on the same wall.  No matter how “out of sync” they are with each other, eventually, they start to swing in perfect synchonicity.  Women who live in the same household will typically have their menstrual cycles in sync with each other because of entrainment.

In brainwave entrainment, pulsating sound is used in specific patterns to induce altered states of consciousness, such as those experienced in meditation, sleep, or even intense concentration. One thing to keep in mind is that entrainment sound patterns do not FORCE your mind into anything, but simply make it easier to gently drift into these naturally occurring mind states.

How does BrainWave Entrainment work?

Any sensory stimulus that operates within the range of typical brainwaves may serve to entrain your brain to its frequency.  This works because our brains are very good at finding patterns and following them.  This is how we learn, and why the human species dominated the planet.  It’s a natural, unconscious process that occurs because the entrainment signal is received by our brains through our senses.

A light pulsating at 10 cycles per second will eventually entrain your brain to that frequency, because the brain is receiving the light stimulus at that rate.  Audio sounds that pulsate at 7-8 cycles per second will entrain your brain into a meditative state for the same reason.  Two audio sounds that differ by a few cycles per second will also entrain your brain as the “beat frequency” is ‘heard’ within.

How can BrainWave Entrainment affect things like our immune system, or dependency on chemical substances?

To be honest, I really don’t know.  However, some very smart scientists have determined that there is a connection, and I trust them enough to at least test the concept.  After tons of research and testing, they’ve found that these conditions are caused primarily by our brainwaves being “out of balance” and the special combinations of entrainment in these sessions are designed to help restore the natural balance of healthy individuals.

The BWE sessions you’ll find below were created by scientists who knew what they were doing, and I’ve received many positive reports from folks who have seen positive results from using them.

Is BrainWave Entrainment safe?  Is there any way it could hurt me?

For the most part, BrainWave Entrainment is as safe as listening to music or watching TV.  However, there are a couple of warnings to consider.  This is to ensure your specific condition will be a good match for the specific entrainment program you wish to use.

In particular, consult a physician if you have (or are prone to have) any of the following conditions:

  • Stroke (due to the increased blood flow in the brain caused by BWE)
  • Brain Injury
  • Brain Surgery
  • Epilepsy (due to the repeating pulses, which may trigger a seizure)
  • Seizures of any kind
  • Migraines (intense BWE sessions may trigger a migraine incident)
  • Neurological and psychiatric disorders
  • Heart Disease
  • Heart Surgery (especially if you wear a pacemaker)
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Pregnant women are also cautioned (I have no idea why, actually)

Also, these entrainment audio sessions were designed for adults.  Children have a slightly different scale of brainwave frequencies, and using the wrong frequency will not produce the desired effect.  So, in general, if you wish to help a child using BrainWave Entrainment, you are also cautioned to consult a trained medical doctor.

And you know what?  Just to be on the safe side, and avoid any conflict with the AMA, I’m going to recommend that EVERYONE consult a trained medical doctor before using any BrainWave Entrainment product.

Okay, that aside, BrainWave Entrainment is perfectly safe for most people, and the only pitfall could be if you use the wrong type of session.  For instance, if you’re tense and nervous, a gamma session isn’t the right choice.  Rather, an alpha, theta, or delta session would help you relax.  On the other side, if you’re depressed, you’ll find better results using a beta or gamma session than trying an alpha session.

The only other way audio BrainWave Entrainment could hurt you is if you turn the volume up too loud and break your eardrums.  But then again, that’s true of ANY kind of audio.

How should I use BrainWave Entrainment sessions?

The best way to use most BrainWave Entrainment sessions is to reserve a period of time in which you will not be disturbed, sit back, relax, and just listen.  Most sessions take about 15 to 30 minutes, although some may take up to an hour.  Some sessions are meant to be used while you’re doing other things, such as the brainstorming sessions.

Unless otherwise noted, you may choose to listen with or without headphones.  Only a few BWE sessions here actually require headphones, and when this is true, it will be indicated for you.

Also, most sessions will entrain your brain to a sequence of frequencies.  Stopping a session in the middle is not recommended, and you should finish any BWE session you start.

A note about BWE and MP3 compression

I have had many people ask if compressing a BWE audio program into an MP3 has any effect on its effectiveness.  The answer is ‘no’.

This is because the audio frequencies used for BWE are typically around 200Hz or so, and MP3 compression only affects frequencies over 15,000Hz.  Also, MP3 compression tries to save space by filtering out sounds that wouldn’t be heard anyways, and the BWE sounds are well within the range of human hearing.

For both of these reasons, there is absolutely no difference in BWE effectiveness between MP3s and the original WAV file.

No voices

To address another question that seems to be coming up, there are no voices in these recordings.  No suggestions in the background, no subliminals, no voices whatsoever.  The effects you get from these BWE recordings are purely from the entrainment and nothing else.
